With over 65 years of historical animosity between India and Pakistan, only a miracle can bring about friendship. While too much has been written by the experts from both side, as an average Indian I would like to highlight in brief what I think of Pakistan.
- Prior to 1947 (before partition) our fore fathers from both sides may have been best of buddies or brothers, today's generation don't agree with that notion, we surely can't be friends, but can work things out not to become enemies.
- It would be naive to say that I would ever consider a Pakistani (even if it happened to be from opposite sex) as a friend forget dating or marrying her, we all have colleagues whom we work with and yet keep distances.
- In one of youtube video a pakistani politician mentioned it accurately that India and Pakistan must stop working on appeasement policies and instead focus on non contentious issues adopting win - win approach. Who are we fooling about resolving Kashmir, Aman ki Asha etc... us, or the world?
- Most Indians feel that Pakistan's military and its government keeps honking the issue of Kashmir and use terrorist activities only to contain India. Even if India would have acceded Kashmir, Pakistan would still be using anti India activities to hide its own insecurities and failures from its public.
- As Atal Bihari Vajpayee once mentioned that Pakistan would find itself trapped in encouraging terrorism against Soviets and India, alas this has happened so true.
- Most Indians perceive Pakistan to be a failed state (and also feel Pakistani's feel the same deep in their minds) and if given a choice, India would flatly decline to take over Pakistan (no human would willingly accept cancer). So Pakistan's military & government's regular brain wash of its citizens that India is the biggest threat to its sovereignty, is the biggest joke and obviously for safety reasons no citizen or media in Pakistan would ever dare to mention it.
- Lastly unless the military dictatorship stops strangulating the government & citizens of Pakistan ... there are very slim chances of peaceful co-existence with Pakistan and soon we may probably have to deal with a rogue state like North Korea.
